Global Ministries Volunteer Opportunities
Help to achieve the 2010 vision
Global Impact Celebration: February 27 - March 2, 2008
Numerous opportunities, including registration, event coordination, transportation, missionary needs and hosting missionaries in your home. We host approximately 60 missionaries from around the world each year.
Global Ministries Prayer Team
Pray for specific mission projects, support a missionary family or an individual on the field through prayer, or be an advocate for an unreached people group. Help maintain contact with our partners and communicate their prayer needs to others.
Global Ministries Resource Center/Conference Room
Maintain, rotate, and update missions displays on a monthly basis. Help decorate the rooms for visual interest.
Global Ministries Resource Team: Supply Room
Maintain the Global Ministries supply room by keeping inventory of donated resources and supplies available for mission projects. Assist teams and individuals in gathering and organizing needed resources for mission projects and replace items upon their return.
Global Ministries Resource Team: Flags
Keep inventory and help change out flags prior to each mission project. Select flags representing countries highlighted during the Global Impact Celebration.
Administrative Support
Assist the Global Ministries office with general administrative tasks such as copying, proofreading, data entry and preparing materials for mission projects and
Promotions Design
Design handouts describing and promoting each short-term international, national, and local mission project, and mission announcements for Sunday School departments.
Photographer/Videographer
Capture mission moments and testimonies during and after mission projects. Help gather material and produce presentations to show our church how God worked through the mission project.
Transportation
Assist with transportation needs for mission teams, for our International Ministry, and for moving resources and supplies in vans or pickup trucks. Shuttle and van drivers are needed to transport team members to and from the airport, particularly the
International Ministry
The mission field has come to us! Help minister to people from more than 40 countries each week. Classes are held on Wednesday evenings, 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Thursday mornings, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. International Ministry opportunities:
Choose a day that fits your schedule and teach a class every week. No experience necessary; materials and training are provided.
Childcare Workers
Care for babies through age 4 on Thursday mornings while parents attend
Be a teacher or helper for Kindegarten-Grade 3 on Thursdays from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. during the summer. Bible and craft materials are provided.
Helpers
Meet and greet students, prepare snacks, clean up, and/or assist teachers. Play the piano or another instrument during class breaks and for special events.
Van Drivers
Drive a church van to pick up students from UAB or in the Vestavia/Hoover area. Weekly, monthly, or quarterly.
Social and evangelistic Events
Help decorate, serve, clean up or keep children for special events. Mingle with Internationals and get to know them.
Be a Friend to Internationals
Befriend an International (individual or family). Many are here alone; all are far from their close friends and extended families. Learn about their country and culture as you help them learn about ours.
