Three models of being a dad:

1. The Absent Dad
2. The Engaged Dad
3. The Strategic Dad

Every child needs to hear at least three things from dad over his lifetime:

1. "I love you."

2. "I'm proud of you."

3. "You're good at ____________."

"This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him."

—Matthew 17:5

I. Clear Instruction

Exhorting: "Directing into suitable lines of conduct."

Every dad should ask this question: "What essential information do I want my children to leave home with at the end?"

II. Consolation and Comfort

Encouraged: "Consolation; comfort in trials."

III. Compelling Character

Charged you: "Urging, testifying; personal witness of your own experience."

"A righteous man who walks in his integrity—how blessed are his children after him."
—Proverbs 20:7
