ROMANS 3:23

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

 

1.   “for all have sinned”

 

·         “Sinned” = “miss the mark” (think shooting an arrow and missing the bulls eye)

·         God’s “bulls eye” is holiness and obedience, and we have all missed this standard through our ignoring, disobeying, and rebelling against God.

·         As we learned in Romans 3:10, we ALL have missed God’s standard of perfection.

 

2.   “and fall short of the glory of God”

 

·         “Glory of God” = includes God’s holiness and perfection

·         In our sinfulness, we fall short of God’s standard of holiness and perfection which He intended for each person when He created mankind.
