Michael Adler, Worship Pastor
Michael has served at SMBC since April 2001. He is an accomplished vocalist with many professional credits, including production and worship leadership roles with the Billy Graham Association and Promise Keepers. He has been worship leader and conference speaker for the North American and International Mission Boards of the Southern Baptist Convention, Texas Evangelism Conference, Texas Baptist Music Conference, Florida Worship Expo and many others.
He and his wife, Linda, are former members of TRUTH and have recorded for commercial and Christian industry projects in studios all around the country. Michael has published devotionals and music ministry articles in Worship Leader Magazine, Creator Magazine, Church Musician Today and other music industry and ministry publications. He has served in an advisory/adjunct capacity with Liberty University, the University of Mobile and Nashville’s Trevecca University in the area of worship leadership for today’s church culture. He is a graduate of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and also attended St. Paul Bible College (Now Crown College) in St. Bonifacious, Minnesota.
He has previously served with Dr. George Harris at Castle Hills First Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas; with Dr. Bob Reccord at Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon, Florida; and with Dr. Don Polston at Sunnyside Temple in Waterloo, Iowa.
He and his wife, Linda, also a professional vocal coach, met while singing with the Oral Roberts television singers, who recorded weekly and daily programs in Tulsa and Hollywood during the height of Christian television ministry in the 1980s. They have been married since 1981 and have four sons. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, antique repair and refinishing, landscaping and outdoor sports.
