The Foundry is a Christian based recovery program for women and men who have drug or alcohol addiction. Shades women minister to these ladies through mentoring one woman for just one hour a week during their time in the program (usually 12-18 months). Our ministry includes sponsoring an annual Christmas party and the Foundry Family Fun Day, held at Oak Mountain State Park, that allows the women to spend time with their families away from the Foundry environment. We also support the Foundry Ministry by donating items to the Foundry Thrift Store on Bessemer Highway. If you want to bless and be blessed, prayerfully consider volunteering to help in the Foundry Ministry. Your support may be the key to helping a lady turn her life around. For more information, or to get involved, please contact Linda Brandsma or Joyce Sisk.
Single Again is a place for all women, no matter what stage of their life. Ladies can grow in their faith and build friendships with others who have gone through similar experiences; it is a place to belong, to serve and to grow as a person. Ladies who have walked this road are available for weekly support, a phone call or just a one-time meeting. Sunday school classes at 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. are specially designed for single ladies and meet in WC416. Please join us as we heal and grow together while studying God’s Word every Sunday. Please reach out to Suzanne Blocker or Nancy Driskill for your initial contact and to obtain more information.
Orphan Care Ministry
There are approximately 153 million orphans worldwide and currently there are 1,038 foster children across Jefferson County. The goal of our ministry is to bring awareness to the plight of numerous orphans around the world while demonstrating God’s hope for a better future. We also aim to provide resources, education, & support, for our members involved in the loving care of children in need. We hope to recruit new foster & adoptive parents, & provide a helping hand to the many local agencies involved in the care of these children. One way Shades Women has partnered with our Orphan Care Ministry is with our annual event Gifted. Shop from vendors who support a variety of ministries that fight human trafficking, encourage adoption, and spread the Gospel around the world, all while supporting Shades Orphan Care Ministry. For more information on how you can be involved with the Orphan Care Ministry at Shades, click here or contact Rachael Milner or Denise Bruce.
Christ was clear… as we go, we are to make disciples. That means, in your everyday setting, you are to share Christ with those around you. There are opportunities for ministry close to home as well as around the world. Maybe you can’t physically go on an international mission trip, but you can certainly give and be prayer partners for these ministries! If you have questions or interest about our upcoming mission locations (Moldova and South Africa), visit Beyond The Vineyards or Melanie Mokgatla.
If your heart for ministry is to Live Sent, we have lots of opportunities for you to serve! For more information on how you can Live Sent, email Cassandra Hicks.
