If your heart for ministry is to help women, we have lots of opportunities for you to serve! Call our office at (205) 822-1670, or send us an email for more information on any of the following ministries:
The Foundry is a Christian based recovery program for women and men who have drug or alcohol addiction. Shades women minister to these ladies through mentoring one woman for just one hour a week during their time in the program (usually 12-18 months).
Our ministry includes sponsoring an annual Christmas party, and the Foundry Family Fun Day, held at Oak Mountain State Park, that allows the women to spend time with their families away from the Foundry environment. We also support the Foundry Ministry by donating items to the Foundry Thrift Store on Bessemer Highway.
If you want to bless and be blessed, prayerfully consider volunteering to help in the Foundry Ministry. Your support may be the key to helping a lady turn her life around. For more information, or to get involved, please call Linda Brandsma (995-9908), or Joyce Sisk (408-2886).
Women on Missions
We strive to learn more and be involved in missions by providing missionaries and local speakers for our groups, reviewing books for study, praying for our missionaries both at home and overseas (especially on their birthdays), and participating in mission projects through the Birmingham Baptist Association Office (World Changers, Thanksgiving, and Christmas projects). We also participate in other projects through Shades including Samaritan's Purse Shoe Boxes for Christmas, providing migrant bags for Alabama farm workers, supporting Love in Action, and the Alabama Children's Homes. Guests and new members are always welcome!
For more information or questions, please email Jean Butterworth, WMU Director.

There are approximately 143 million orphans worldwide and currently there are 1,038 foster children across Jefferson County.
